what a long trip home..

So we're back in Utah, It snowed the day after

we got back. It's freezin and a little sad missing

the warmth in hawaii and of course the fam.

Ikaika slept through the flights and ran around

when we hit our layover in portland. The

flight was long but went over very smooth.

We're happy to be in Utah and are getting used to

the time difference. Mostly the sun setting so early!

a new change

We've decided to move back to Utah! We're excited to see our family there. We really missed having Ikaika's grandparents around, though I know they missed him even more the past 6 months. It'll be nice getting back to the familiar and we'll definitely miss everybody in Hawaii. We have had such a great time here and are sad to say goodbye for now but I'm sure we'll be back soon even if it's just to visit. It was wonderful to get back to my Hawaiian roots and I hope to bring it back and share it in Utah. The spirit of Aloha is one of a kind!

halloween

This Halloween we enjoyed the warm weather in Hawaii. We took Ikaika trick or treating with his cousins, which mostly means his candy is now the family candy. He didn't really understands what was going on just that there was candy! Mostly he loved just being with his cousins and following their lead. Ikaika was a skeleton and then a cheetah for halloween. Justin and I dressed to match him. We had a lot of fun, though I think we looked like we belonged on Cats. Hopefully I'll have the pictures posted soon. This year we went to the mall for awhile, but it was so crowded we left and stuck to the neighborhood. So to sum it up we had a lot of fun and justin has picked out his favorite candies out of hte "family stash", ha ha.

What a beautiful life...

I miss my grandma and my papa all the time. Now that i finally live in hawaii, i can't help but miss that they aren't here physically, to teach me the things they know, talk with me...Their lives were full of purpose and meaning. Their greatest gift they shared with us all, their love and even just as special they gave this amazing legacy to pass down to our children. How proud i am to be their granddaughter. Family loyalty and love is key. You better believe this family wants the best for you. We're hard on each other when we need to be but man, the love is so much stronger than anything.

I see the way this family lives now, my aunties, uncles and cousins. Their feircely loyal to one another, you definitly know they got your back. No strings attached and if one falls, they wont stand by to see how far you can dig yourself down before saying anything. You of course, need to do your own work but if you need anything, I've never seen them turn their back.

My grandma, if you knew her, she had a way of making you feel like you were her favorite person. It was just the way she was. Her heart was so caring and full of love. And man could she cook! She could put anything together and make it delicious! She worked hard, she had so much energy and life in her. She went back to college in her seventies, took care of my grandpa after he suffered his stroke, tended her garden and she never complained.

My Papa, was always there, if you needed him. He loved to tease you and make you laugh. He loved his family so much. I still remember his laugh and smile. Anything that needed to be done, he did it, no strings attached.

I love them so much and miss them all the time. I am blessed to have them as an example to me.

Watching Ikaika grow.....

Being a mom was a whole new experience for me, I discovered so much more about myself and just the little surprises life has to offer. I worried i wouldn't know what to do when he arrived, but it all just seem to fall into place. I hadn't realized how i had been preparing myself to be a parent during my pregnancy. From the first time i saw his beautiful face and heard him cry, it all become so real to me. To instantly love someone with all your heart. I remember just wanting to hold him and stare at him all the time. I want so much to teach him everything i know because i love watching him learn each day. His curiosity and innocence, is so fascinating for me. Now almost two and chatting away with a few coherent words here and there along with mumbles. Climbing up this, into that, finding nic nacs all over, making a mess....i love it. He knows most animals and their sounds, he's learning his colors, objects around the house, numbers... everything is a fun learning experience.
Lately Ikaika has been using stop and no often. He's learned these are two effective words when he doesn't want me to do something such as put away his toys or walk away. Sometimes it's pretty funny. He's definitely showing us his personality, likes and dislikes more and more each day.
I love this little boy more than anything!
